Victim: Dani Countryman

Illegal alien pleads guilty to attempted rape, sex abuse charges and murder of 15 year old

Perpetrator: Alejandro Rivera-Gamboa

Crime Description:

Dani Countryman was 15 years old in the summer of 2007. Dani was described as having “an infectious smile and a loving heart” by those who knew her.(1)  She would have been a sophomore in high school in the fall. Dani had been visiting her older sister in Milwaukie, Oregon. Friends gathered at her going away party at the Balboa Apartments on the evening of July 27th, 2007. The following day Dani was to return to her home in Kaufman, Texas.  Dani was sexually assaulted and murdered alledgedly by two illegal aliens early in the morning of July 28, 2007.

Dani Countryman spent the last moments of her young life screaming in terror at the brutal attack that left her dead from strangulation. Gilberto Rivera-Gamboa, an illegal alien, was on top of Dani on the floor of his apartment attempting to rape her. Gilberto asked his cousin, Alejandro, to subdue her as she fought back. The 5’10”, 180 lb illegal alien, Alejandro Rivera-Gamboa, crushed her neck with his foot until she stopped moving. The sole of Rivera-Gamboa’s bloody shoe was later found to match an imprint on Dani Countryman’s chest. (2)

The Rivera-Gamboa cousins were charged with aggravated murder on August 7, 2007.(3) On August 15th, a grand jury added attempted rape and sex abuse charges to the initial indictment. Alejandro reached a plea agreement for life in prison with a possibility of parole after 35 years. (3)

Alejandro Rivera-Gamboa was arrested twice in 2006 for DUI. Pleading guilty in November, 2006, he signed a petition that confirmed he was not a U.S. citizen. Court records show Rivera-Gamboa was an illegal immigrant but no one from the district attorney's office to his probation officer informed Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Nine months after illegal alien Alejandro Rivera-Gamboa left jail following his second arrest for DUI, he murdered Dani Countryman.
