Santana Batiz Aceves, 39, an illegal alien from Mexico, was arrested and charged for the sexual assaults of several young girls in Chandler Arizona. Police said that DNA evidence positively links Aceves to the crimes.
Aceves was booked into a Maricopa County jail in Phoenix in January 2008 on 25 counts of kidnapping, sexual assault and trespassing in connection with the assaults that began in June 2006, police announced at a news conference.
Police had been searching for months for a man who raped four girls and attempted to assault two others in the Chandler area. All of the victims have been girls between the ages of 12 and 15, according to authorities.
The attacks were:
4JUN06 – 12 year old raped
16JAN07 – 13 year old attempted rape
31JAN07 – 14 year old raped
23MAR07 – 13 year old raped

Chandler Police Chief Sherry Kiyler said Aceves is an illegal immigrant who was deported twice for drug charges in California in 1999 and 2003.
Authorities said Aceves worked as a heavy equipment operator and lived in the area of the sexual assaults for the last 18 months.
Police said all of the attacks occurred within a two-mile radius of the suspect's rented home, which is located between two junior high schools.
Kiyler said detectives working a saturation patrol in the area of the most recent assault spotted a man who matched the description of the suspect and who was driving a white 2-door car that also matched a police description. Inside the vehicle they found a jacket similar to one they believed the rapist had worn, Kiyler said. The man was released after being questioned, but officers later got a warrant to search his home and obtain his DNA.
He fled when they approached but was captured and the DNA obtained, Kiyler said. That DNA test came back early Saturday with a positive match for several of the sexual assaults.
Police described a careful assailant who stalked his victims and their families to identify when the young girls were most vulnerable. He would then strike quickly and apparently had his escape well planned.
Batiz Aceves, 39, originally from a town in Sinaloa, Mexico, began living in the United States illegally in 1988 and lived in Sacramento for nearly 16 years, where he worked for a construction company, computer records show.
Police stated that Aceves is an undocumented immigrant who was deported in 1999 and 2003 on drug offenses.
Police said Batiz Aceves initially provided officers an alias of Ricardo L??pez.. Aceves told officers he lived in Casa Grande and was just visiting Chandler. He refused to submit to a DNA test.
"I think (the tip) piqued our interest more so than all the other (tips)," said Sgt. Rick Griner, a Chandler police spokesman. "I didn't believe it but it was definitely good news."
Through a search warrant, detectives obtained a buccal swab for DNA from Aceves and, in less than 24 hours, they confirmed Aceves matched physical evidence obtained from Chandler Rapist crime scenes, police said.
It took almost five hours for officers to make the arrest once they made contact with Aceves.
Aceves was preparing to flee as officers arrived at his Chandler residence near Arizona Avenue and Ray Road to arrest him, officers said.
At his initial court appearance, when the Honorable Richard Albrecht asked him to state his name, he said "Ricardo Ramirez Lopez". That is the same name he initially gave to police.
Judge Albrecht read the charges against him: 26 counts including 6 counts of aggravated assault; 1 count of criminal trespassing; 2 counts of molestation of a child; 4 counts of sexual conduct with a minor; 4 counts of burglary; 4 counts of kidnapping; and, 5 counts of sexual abuse.
